Mr. McGarry, You’ll Be Missed

In Loving Memory of John Spencer
20 December 1946 – 16 December 2005

“This guy’s walking down the street when he falls in a hole. The walls are so steep he can’t get out. A doctor passes by and the guy shouts up, ‘Hey you. Can you help me out?’ The doctor writes a prescription, throws it down in the hole and moves on. Then a priest comes along and the guy shouts up, ‘Father, I’m down in this hole can you help me out?’ The priest writes out a prayer, throws it down in the hole and moves on. Then a friend walks by, ‘Hey, Joe, it’s me can you help me out?’ And the friend jumps in the hole. Our guy says, ‘Are you stupid? Now we’re both down here.’ The friend says, ‘Yeah, but I’ve been down here before and I know the way out.’ “

  1. i will always remember john spencer most for the lively banter between himself and mr. connery in The Rock. one of my early favorites, and a lot of the reason for that is because of mr. spencer. a strong actor’s absence is always noticed, and by that token john spencer will be missed.i love it when you do these obits enrico. the events that draw them out are sad, but obituaries remind us of the human being that has passed on, especially in the case of actors, whose existence is so often distorted by their profession and the media. thanks for remembering the person in all this.
